Travel Guide: What I Wore & Things to Do In Barcelona, Spain

BARCELONA, SPAIN

What I Wore: These super skinny high-waist black jeans, a moto jacket like this one, a rotating cast of sweaters, this mustard wool blend beret or this black fisherman cap depending on my sweater, and an oversized scarf. Oh and these super comfortable Dr. Scholl’s booties! I visited in November so it was cooler; an umbrella was a practical and sometimes needed accessory.

What I Did: Our first day was a full Antoni Gaudí experience! We visited Park Guell, did a self-tour of the semi-creepy but beautiful Sant Pau, entered the magnificent Sagrada Familia (worth every cent!), and did a walking tour to see Casa Batlló, Casa Amatller, Casa Lleo Morera, Casa Mila La Pedrera, and Casa Vicens (which is very close to the AirBnB I stayed at by the way). The next day we toured Museu Picasso. Other things we saw on our stay: Placa de Catalunya, Las Ramblas, Barcelona Catedral, Barri Gotic, Placa del Rei (Medieval square), Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar and the La Barceloneta beach area.

What I Ate: Tapas of course! Delicious options at smaller local spots included La Terreta and Casa Lopez; both were ridiculously cheap for drinks and food. We had a nice lunch at SMS Delícies one day; pastries from any window I happened to see on the way to the Metro happened often. And we enjoyed a night in with food from a local market one evening! Sometimes those are the best.

Where I Stayed: The Gracia Deluxe with Private Terrace AirBnb, which is a spacious pad with a big living room area and a private rooftop patio. It has a cute aesthetic and the location was absolutely perfect for almost everything! It’s just steps from the Metro, clean, and the hosts are friendly.
