How to Start Getting Experience in a New Skill!

SO YOU WANNA LEVEL UP?

So many of you have reached out this past year about being at a crossroads.

Maybe you lost your job, maybe it disappeared overnight like so many of us in the event world, or maybe you started working from home & realizing - this gig isn’t for me. Whatever it might be, there is no greater time than now to reinvent yourself. Seriously! You have more tools at your fingertips than any human in history.

So how do you do it? Last week we talked about how to find what you’re passionate about by exploring & trialing side hustles. This week let’s talk about how to start doing something with it once you’ve found one:

My first rec once you know what it is you want to start doing is to do it- it sounds easy but most people fail right here.

If it’s a skill and you have zero experience, you’re probably going to have to start doing it for free or as a volunteer at first, but don’t worry! A few good lands will help you get ready to monetize.

If it’s a product, you’ve got to start thinking about how & where you want to sell it (of course) but the first step starts with building; making that thing of yours a stand out, whether it’s an app or a custom painted hat 🤠 Dig into it- and no matter which one of these you choose start CONNECTING 🔆 Watch competitors & learn from them, ask people in your close circle to try your product, or if they know someone taking volunteers or interns in the service or skill you’re pursuing. Any good #entrepreneur will tell you that they didn’t do it all by themselves- they got out there & made it happen yes- but they made connections that helped them along the way.

I’ve been loving all your DMs & even texts and emails about how to get your next path going, so keep them coming. Feel free to tell me what I should talk about next or any questions you have on the ‘gram!
