How to Stay Accountable with Your Fitness Goals & WaytoGo's #BiketoWhereverWeek
WERKIN’ ON YOUR FITNESS
For many of us, 2020 has been a weird year for fitness goals. When the gyms first closed and social distancing became the norm, a lot of us were left with figuring out a new routine. It felt hard to be motivated. I know sometimes I felt overwhelmed by the news and had a hard time figuring out what my new fitness routine should be. When I talked to @olivihuh, we realized we were experiencing the same struggle. That’s when we decided to be the other’s wellness accountability partner.
A wellness accountability partner helps you set and maintain goals for diet, exercise and overall well-being. Having one has actually been shown to increase your likelihood of completing your goals by up to 95%! After @olivihuh and I started acting as each other’s accountability partners, I started dialing in my fitness routine. Sometimes we Zoomed a class together (anything using these resistance bands is a fave) and other times we met up and walked @ziggyontherun (the boi can go so much farther than you’d think!).
Before I knew it, I was really getting back into a regular fitness routine, and having fun while doing it. That’s why when My Way to Go reached out about their Bike to Wherever Week and tracking my trips during October with their Way to Go Trip Tracker, we decided that we had to join the fun- in tandem. ;)
This week, from September 21st-25th, is Denver’s #BiketoWhereverWeek, an initiative by @drcog_waytogo happening in lieu of their annual #BiketoWorkDay. By biking or walking to places you would normally drive this week, you can help improve traffic congestion, promote better air quality (which we could certainly use right now!), and meet your fitness goals. Who knows- you may even learn something new about your neighborhood! Pledge to bike wherever this week on My Way to Go’s Website.
If you find yourself hooked after this week on incorporating more biking and walking into your daily routine, My Way to Go is actually running a contest from October 1st-31st called #Gotober with a ton of great prizes. Simply go to My Way to Go Trip Tracker and log your trip (it can be a commute, errands, social outings, etc.). After you’ve tracked 8 or more trips, you’ll be entered to win their grand prize! They even have a low-stress bike map to help you plan your routes, and if you decide to visit The Empourium on one of your trips, there’s a special Way to Go bike brew called, "It's a Sledgehammer" to try responsibly.
So this week, find your own wellness accountability partner and pledge to bike to wherever. It’s a great way to kickoff your current fitness journey, or keep that momentum going if you’ve been at it for awhile!
Tell me how you’re planning to get outside for #BiketoWhereverWeek on the ‘gram and remember to pledge here!
