How to Get Obsessed with Your Life

I took last week off of a #MondayMood post after the holiday weekend, but we back bb! If you’re not familiar, the #MondayMood is: the reset, check-in, and reminder that you gotta take a step back sometimes and frame your week so that you can manifest the h*ll out of your universe.

Every Monday’s got a theme; every post’s got a takeaway.

Today’s theme is: HOW TO GET OBSESSED WITH YOUR LIFE.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that pausing for self-reflection is: 1) important to do often; 2) can help you make decisions; 3) might bring up a lot of uncomfortable sh*t!

Not happy with your job/relationships/body/self? Being quarantined and having nothing but TIME to THINK has been both a blessing and a curse. It’s been dang near impossible to avoid asking yourself all of the uncomfortable and weird existential questions about your life during this unprecedented global pandemic. Or at least that’s where I’ve been at multiple times over the past few months 😅

But honestly, reflecting on all of these questions is actually a really good thing. Because in some ways, life has never felt as precious as it does right now. And that makes it a very easy time to get yourself motivated to make a change.

Here are a few things I’ve been working on: cutting out negative self-talk, laughing at imposter syndrome in its face, moving every.single.day, writing more valuable content for you, and letting myself rest. In fact- rest has been HUGE for me during this pause. I was totally burning myself out in lieu of cramming more travel and events into my schedule. With all of those on hold, it’s been a great opportunity to just BREATHE and FOCUS.

So, how do you get obsessed with your life?

Write it out! Jot down all of the things you’ve been wanting to do or change, and start asking yourself the HOWs and WHYs involved in making them happen. I’m a big believer in putting it on paper so you can start visualizing and holding yourself accountable.

Once you’ve got at least one thing down you want to work on, set small daily goals to help you slowly integrate it into your everyday. When I decided I wanted to move.every.day., I started slow: morning walks with Zigs, a good (but short) yoga session, sundown stretching. Once I realized how much better I felt though, I started getting WAY more into it: cardio sessions, longer yoga classes, and booty bands Zoom workouts with @olivihuh (btw- these bands from Amazon are so great). Slowly, I became obsessed with wanting to get something that made me feel good into my everyday routine. Now, some days I still just walk, and other days I really go for it. Short goals I could achieve, and giving myself permission to call ALL of them part of my bigger goal, helped me get there.

So today’s takeaway? Start making small, daily goals that you can accomplish to become that much more obsessed with the good in your life that you want to achieve.
