5 Fun Drinks to Help You Celebrate World Cocktail Day From Home

WORLD COCKTAIL DAY RECIPES

Make the mundane fun for yourself today. We need it.

Make the mundane fun for yourself today. We need it.

These past few weeks have been a real whirlwind of emotions, am I right? There have been ups and downs, no matter who you are or where you are right now. Sometimes it has felt tough to celebrate all of the moments that typically make up our lives: the graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and everything in between. We’ve been self-quarantining, sheltering in place, safer at home-ing for weeks now and the world looks strange! But guess what? For as many in-person events that have been impossible, I’ve joined just as many birthday Zoom dance parties, Jackbox.tv game nights, virtual graduations, Google Hangouts brunches, Animal Crossing meetups, VR concerts, livestream shows, and so much more. Our digital communities are as important as ever, and we’re getting through this together.

Which brings me to today: it’s #WorldCocktailDay and self-isolation or not, let’s celebrate! Making the mundane fun right now is keeping us going together, so let’s cheers for no reason! Booze or not, here are 5 cocktails you can make from home to celebrate absolutely nothing because a little magic is what we could all use right now. ✨😉Sláinte!

The Bad Girl Bottomless Mimosa
I recently partnered with Natalie’s Juice Company because they’re a female-led powerhouse of fresh! And did I mention they deliver? Here’s one for the brunch babes! Simply combine:

1 bottle Prosecco, chilled
1 ½ cups of Natalie's Blood Orange Juice, chilled
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier or Cointreau
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
Optional: additional sugar for rimming the glass

Want to try sans-alcohol? Just combine Natalie’s Blood Orange Juice with your favorite sparkling soda!

The Manhattan Mama
Lyre’s sent me a bottle of their American malt for dry January and I’ve been using it ever since! It’s 100% alcohol-free and their manhattan recipe is a treat. Simply stir briefly with ice and strain the following:

2oz. Lyre’s American Malt
½ oz. Lyre’s Aperitif Rosso
2 dashes Aromatic Bitters
Optional: maraschino cherry for garnish

The Summertime Sadness Grapefruit Margarita
Shared by my friend and banking mogul David Erlbacher, this one’s the sweet citrus you want to take a bite of because it feels like sunshine in your mouth. Simply combine:

2 oz. freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 ½ oz. tequila, silver or rcookeposado
¾ oz. Cointreau (or any orange liquor)
¾ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
Agave nectar or simple syrup for sweetening to taste
Ice
Optional: lime wedge and salt for rimming the glass

The Lime Lover
Twin @Olivihuh and I love the simplicity of this one. It’s sparkling, refreshing, and clean: just like my apartment after 8 weeks of quarantine 😂… psych! Simply combine:

2 oz. vodka
1 oz. lime juice
1 ½ oz. soda water
Ice
Optional: lime wedge for garnish

The Pamplemousse Paloma
If you’ve seen my stories recently, you know I’m having a LaCroix Pamplemousse moment. I don’t know if it’s the 90s-ish can design or what, but I can’t get enough. That’s why when one of my favorite food bloggers Cookie + Kate created this craft cocktail, I had to try. Simply combine:

2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
2 oz. silver or blanco tequila
1 ½ oz LaCroix Pamplemousse
1 oz. fresh lime juice
½ teaspoon agave nectar or simple syrup
1 thinly sliced serrano round
Optional: lime wedge or small grapefruit wedges for garnish; salt for rimming the glass

Want to try sans-alcohol? Just combine and skip the tequila!
